Mehrdad, now an old man, reflects on his move to Tokyo from Iran after the passing of his mother when he was a boy. He narrates the tale of his befriending of an older Japanese woman at a graveyard through the help of his old sketchbook. The film is brought to life through the help of animation and live-action interplaying through the sketchbook and other elements of Mehrdad’s memories. Throughout the film are references to pop-culture, Googoosh, and old Japanese ghost stories. But all in all, it’s just a film about nature, family, and our relationship with the people we’ve lost.
