When most Americans think of opiate addiction, chances are the image of an upper middle class Iranian family isn’t the first that would come to mind. Yet, opiate addiction has unfortunately affected my own family across generations. While DON’T BE A STRANGER is not autobiographical, I wanted to shed light on the topic of addiction from my own unique point-of-view. We shot the film in my parents’ home over the course of two days, utilizing a crew of only four.
