After losing her mother and facing significant hardship as a political illustrator in Iran, 27-year-old Mina spends her days trying to convince immigration authorities to return her passport. A Breathless Flower was a project I felt compelled to create.

My goal in making short films or feature-length works is to center voices that deserve to be heard. A Breathless Flowernot only highlights the Iranian experience, but specifically focuses on Iranians living in Iran—those who are actively fighting for freedom on the ground, including courageous artists like Mariam Salemian.

As an activist, artist, and director, my mission is to amplify their voices and ensure they are not only seen but truly heard.
