Introduction

It’s the eve of Chaharshanbe Suri (the Persian Festival of Fire). Mahshid has been invited by her partner Alireza to a party where she is to be introduced to his family. At the same time, she must return her six-year-old private student, Radin, to his family. But during this interval, something unexpected happens—leading Mahshid to a new understanding of her relationship with Alireza. She ultimately decides to remain loyal to her responsibility and commitment toward her student.

A focus on ethical responsibility and social commitment laid the foundation for the film “The Introduction”. It also highlights the story of a girl—Mahshid—who represents a generation of Iranian women who, in recent years, have become the central protagonists in the country’s most significant social and political narratives. Despite having an ordinary job and likely a modest income, she sees herself as responsible for and the guardian of Radin—who symbolizes the vulnerable future generation.
