Short Synopsis:
After an unintended incident, a man was tragically blamed for the death of his daughter. Burdened by guilt, he endeavors to replace the haunting memories of his past with artificially crafted, sweeter ones.

Director’s Biography:
Mohsen Mehri Darouei born in 1991 and graduated in filmmaking. He began his artistic career with theater acting and then transitioned to cinema. His first film, titled “Sluggish Life,” was made in 2018, earning him a Special Audience Award nomination at the Encounters Film Festival in England.

Milad Kiaei, born in 1988 and holds a degree in filmmaking. He started his artistic journey with portrait photography and then continued his professional career in cinema. He was nominated for Best Photograph from the Iranian Photographers Association in 2019. In 2018, he directed his first film titled “Maz.”

Statement:
“Dream maker” is a film that revolves around the theme of deception. It follows a man’s attempt to transform lies into reality through technology, so he can overlook his dark role in this new reality.

Can we alter the darkest moments of our lives?

Two years ago, the darkest moments of my life occurred, and I found myself thinking, if only I could manipulate my memories to escape the torment of my conscience and turn this bitter reality into a sweet occurrence… pause… “Hey, this is a crazy idea for a short film.” Eventually, that idea faded in my mind, and my new film came to reality. A fusion of truth and falsehood, reality and imagination. And the technology that the modern human resorts to in order to achieve the impossible and escape from their own truth.

We’ve all had moments when we tried to escape from reality, but we were unaware that the only way to escape is to accept the bitter truth.

For me, the language of cinema is the language of images, a universal language shared by people all over the world. It transcends geographical boundaries and isn’t confined to a mother tongue that is limited to the understanding of specific individuals.

Our aim has been to use this shared language to depict the modern human’s challenge in their failures.
