Director’s Statement
Is truth always what we perceive, or in other words, how accurately does our interpretation of an event align with the reality of that phenomenon?
In my opinion, in today’s world, the influence of media on human perception of truth and the surrounding world has advanced to the point where media can replace reality with an imaginary image. This constructed truth constitutes a significant part of contemporary human life, such that it has even found its way
into modern philosophical theories, with French philosopher Jean Baudrillard referring to it as ‘simulacra.’
In this film, I have also attempted to blur the line between reality and fantasy, presenting a blend of a dystopian apocalypse and a lost utopia. This fusion contains a dialectic between death and life to the extent that, in this wasteland, an Olympic baton becomes a source of hope and a reason for a small boy to continue living and striving.
