Short Synopsis:
Taher, a musician soldier, plans to escape from the military base with the help of his lover, Zohreh, before the operation begins. However, the colonel discovers their plan and condemns Taher to play his instrument during the battle. Later, all except Taher and Zohreh go to war and are killed. Taher and Zohreh bury the colonel\’s body.
Director’s Biography:

Sajad Moshtagh is an Iranian writer and director, born on May 1, 1998. He began his career directing theater before studying dramatic literature at Tehran University of Arts. In 2013, he start his career as short film director. Colonel Anthem is his last short film as a director.

Director’s Statement:
In this time when the flames of war rage across the world, leaving countless people as victims, The Colonel’s Anthem reflects on love and hope amidst this storm of conflict. This work, inspired by both individual and collective experiences of violence and destruction, aims to portray love and hope as the only paths to salvation. The story presents love not merely as a feeling but as a powerful, humanizing force—one that transcends personal and national interests.
The film\’s structural language has been designed to allow individuals of any dialect or nationality to connect with it and see themselves as part of its narrative. The Colonel’s Anthem, by aligning itself with the current state of the world and raising the flag of peace, hopes to forge a profound bond with audiences worldwide.
