“Mahakan” is the story of a family who forces their seven-year-old daughter to undertake the responsibility of the murder his father committed, saving her father’s life from the death sentence.
In today’s civilized societies, concerns such as “human rights” and “children and adolescents’ rights” continue to be expressed. It brought us together with two different point of view but common ideologies to make this film. Sacrificing children for the ambitious desires of adults knows no bounds, and this concern continues to guide our filmmaking path.
According to UNICEF-approved statistics, children and adolescents in many countries around the world are major victims of economic, social, educational and cultural deficiencies.
Despite the abolition of the death penalty for children in Iran since 2013, there are still occasional reports of executions of juvenile offenders.
Hopefully one day we will have a world free of violence.
